Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained so our team can answer it. We do not voluntarily disclose that correspondence outside our organization, though a valid legal duty may require disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the servers automatically receive basic technical details about that visit:
- The time associated with each page request
- The referring site, when one is reported
- The pages viewed and the time spent on them
- The device type and operating system
- The browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help measure site use, such as which pages receive traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers combine this activity into broader usage reports. A visitor may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can change how some features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing faults and other technical problems
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
- Routing a search request to the applicable partner service
- Operating the site and maintaining its speed and availability
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Hoke County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records held by the Hoke County Sheriff's Office, the North Carolina courts, NCSBI, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal-history files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes shown on parts of the site. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy. Its retention and disclosure choices are outside our control, so visitors should read the applicable provider policy before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Hoke County government, North Carolina Judicial Branch, NCSBI, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's own policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may measure activity across websites to select interest-based ads. That processing occurs through their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
- Advertising networks that place ads on the site
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Search partners processing a query submitted through their tool
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or another breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If a minor's information has been provided, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by where a visitor lives and by the law that applies. In North Carolina, the Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs records made or received in public business. It does not turn this private website into a government custodian. Public criminal information is further limited by G.S. 132-1.4, while court inspection is governed by G.S. 7A-109. Visitors may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal information held about them
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate
- Erase personal data where the request is applicable
- Stop certain forms of processing where an applicable right permits it
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised. An updated version will be posted here with a new effective date, and visitors should review it for changes in how information is handled.
